ALBANESE DUPES WESTERN AUSTRALIANS OVER NATURE POSITIVE LAWS
Western Australians have been duped again by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese with Labor recommitting to controversial anti-Western Australian nature positive, mining negative laws.
Following caucus on Monday Labor has confirmed it will bring back the laws after the election and establish a federal environmental protection agency.
Leader of the Opposition in the Senate, Senator Michaelia Cash said Mr Albanese had tried to pull the wool over Western Australians’ eyes on nature positive laws by pretending late last year he had stepped in the shelve the laws.
“We always said these laws would be back on Labor’s agenda and they have now confirmed that,’’ Senator Cash said.
“Premier Roger Cook spoke out against these anti-Western Australian laws last year and he should do so again,’’ she said.
“Mr Cook made it clear these laws will damage Western Australia’s mining industry, cost jobs and threaten future projects in our State,’’ Senator Cash said.
“What is worse is that these laws will be even more diabolical if Labor is elected in a minority government with the Greens and Teals like Kate Chaney,’’ Senator Cash said.
“Kate Chaney and the Australian Greens want to make these terrible laws even worse. Mr Albanese will no doubt give the Greens and Teals everything they want to secure his position,” she said.
Senator Cash said the laws would not only hurt the mining and agricultural sectors but will impact all Western Australian families.
“It is estimated that Mr Albanese’s nature positive, mining negative laws will increase the costs of housing by 10.6 per cent and increase electricity prices by 38%. This would be a disaster for Western Australian families during a cost of living crisis.” Senator Cash said.
