ALBANESE HAS LOST CONTROL OF CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY
Today’s unprotected strike action on building sites and accompanying street protests are further proof the Albanese Government has lost control of the construction industry.
It is a catastrophic failure of the Albanese Government with these strikes now costing taxpayers millions of dollars and further delaying construction of vital infrastructure projects, like hospitals and roads.
The Albanese Government has encouraged this type of action by abolishing the Australia Building and Construction Commission, giving control of the construction industry to the CFMEU and by their union friendly industrial relations policies.
Unprotected industrial action should be examined by the Fair Work Ombudsman and appropriate action taken.
The Albanese Government had hoped putting the CFMEU into administration would be a set and forget solution, but they are being proved wrong time and again. Stronger action is clearly required.
The Government should support the Coalition’s Bills that are before Parliament at the moment which will ensure integrity in the industry by removing criminals from worksites and restoring the Australia Building and Construction Commission.
Without stronger measures, chaos is likely to reign in this vital industry pushing up the costs of building the nation’s vital infrastructure.
Taxpayers should not be expected to pay the price for the incompetence of the Albanese Government in dealing with the rogue CFMEU.
