UNIONS STILL DELIVER FOR LABOR WITH $6.5 MILLION IN DONATIONS
The Albanese Labor Government’s reliance on their union paymasters was revealed today with the release of the Australian Electoral Commission’s annual returns, showing unions gave them more than $6.5 million last financial year.
The figure was an increase on the previous year when unions donated $5.7 million.
The returns show the largest two union donors to the Labor Party were the SDA (over $1.2 million) and the UWU (over $1 million) while the militant CFMEU donated $687,585.
Other large Labor Party union donors revealed in the annual returns included Perth Trades Hall Incorporated ($620,000), ASU ($563,453), AWU ($525,010) and the HSU ($322,647).
“Once again the returns show the price the unions are willing to pay to get their demands met by the Albanese Government,’’ Senator Michaelia Cash said.
“What we know is that there is no doubt the unions will ramp up their level of donations in the lead up to this year’s election,’’ she said.
“Those donations all come with demands and expectations that they will be looked after by the Albanese Government. This has been proved time and again during Labor’s time in Government,’’ Senator Cash said.
“Unions have been handsomely rewarded for their donations particularly with the Albanese Government’s radical overhaul of the industrial relations laws,’’ she said.
“It is now clear that unions across the nation have been emboldened by this government’s agenda,’’ Senator Cash said.
“What is of real concern is possibility of a minority Labor-Greens alliance Government after the election this year,’’ she said.
“That would be a disaster for Australia,’’ Senator Cash said.
